1 med onion, halved and thinly sliced
1 gala apple, halved, cored and sliced
1 head red cabbage, cored, quartered and thinly sliced
3 Tbl cider vinegar
4 tsp sugar

I love braised cabbage, something I never would of thought. This is a great recipe. Excellent with chicken, pork, meatloaf. So good.
Directions
In a large dutch oven or heavy pot, melt 1 Tbl butter or medium. Add 1 medium onion, thinly sliced and 1 apple, sliced. Cook until onion softens 4 to 6 minutes. Stir in 1 head of red cabbage and season with salt and pepper. Add 3 Tbl cider vinegar, 4 teaspoons of sugar, 1/2 cup water. Bring to boil; reduce to simmer, cover and cook until cabbage is tender, 20 to 25 minutes. Season with salt, pepper and sugar.
